Who is buffalo bill

Buffalo Bill, whose real name was William Frederick Cody, was an American scout, bison hunter, and showman. He was born on February 26, 1846, in Iowa. At the age of 14, Cody served as a rider for the Pony Express, a mail service that connected the East and West Coasts of the United States. During the American Civil War, he served as a Union scout. After the war, he worked as a buffalo hunter, earning him the nickname "Buffalo Bill". He is said to have killed over 4,000 buffalo within 18 months. His fame began to grow when he was written about in popular dime novels of the time. Cody capitalized on his growing fame by creating "Buffalo Bill's Wild West", a touring show that featured cowboy themes and episodes from the frontier and Indian Wars. The show included demonstrations of cowboy skills, Indian dances, staged races, and even reenactments of historical events. Some famous figures, like Annie Oakley and Sitting Bull, performed in the show. The show toured for over 30 years, both in the U.S. and Europe, and contributed to the romanticized and somewhat mythologized image of the American West. Buffalo Bill died on January 10, 1917. His life and legacy have had a lasting impact on how the American West is perceived around the world.
